Preparing for a first date is a lot like preparing for a first job interview. You have to spend a lot of time deciding what you will wear. You have to anticipate what questions they will ask. You have to smile and pretend you really want the job or in this case the relationship. You gotta sell yourself! Then there is the awkward ending to an interview or in this case a first date. You then have to wait for the call back to see if you get a second interview or a second date.
I had received a message from Peter on match.com.au about a month ago. Peter is a 33-year-old government worker who lives in Potts Point. We had been exchanging emails for the last two weeks discussing our passion for world travel and his obsession with South America.
We finally spoke on the phone on Monday and set up our first date….brunch at Yellow Café on Macleay Street in Potts Point. They have Sydney's best French toasts. Tip 1: Brunch is always a good option. Not too early or too late, if it is all going well you can go for a nice romantic walk or to an art exhibit after the date. If things are going badly, you can make a quick getaway and say you have to go to church!
